The hallway was also found to have the solid wooden floor under the carpet that was covering it. The front door is single glazed and needs replacing once everything else has been decided. The hallway cupboard remains, and the shoe racks around the corner will be boxed in, with the electricity RCDs that are beside them, just in front of the wetroom and entrance to Bedroom 5/Utility Room.
From the lounge to the front door, infrared heater on wall and the door to the garage can be seen through the top pane of the front door, across the open porch.
The old kitchen can be seen through the door on the right before it is all renovated.

Shoe racks (well re-purposed bookcases really) round the corner from the front door. One of these will end up in the study, back with books on it and the other will be in the lounge, also with books.
The front door was also done as part of this hallway project, with steps leading up to the door. The original thought was that narrow steps would be used but I insisted upon paving slab size steps. The builders tried to talk me out of it but in the end Rab agreed that it looked much better with the big steps even though he didn't want to do it. Nice of him to actually say so.

The same view as above but now the door into the kitchen is glass, the floor is replaced, the cupboard door is changed and is now a pantry instead of coat cupboard. Front door removed and open porch now changed.
The open porch is now an entrance hall and has a double front door. The garage door is straight ahead and there is a door to a new utility room opposite the new front door
A revised shoe rack, that will eventually be behind a sliding wardrobe door in the hallway and filled with many more shoes when I find the box they have been stored in
