Bedroom 4 is downstairs behind the kitchen and the other side of Ensuite 3. This ensuite may stay as a Jack & Jill ensuite or may not if we have enough money to make Bedroom 5, now the utility room, into part of Bedroom 4 and the original wetroom into Ensuite 4. Plans still up in the air as we don't know if we will have enough funds to convert the Hose Room (it had a ferry hose in it!) into a nice utility/boot room.Â
There are loads of wardrobes in this room which are also very dated but holding on for the moment. We may update the doors and keep them or we may just rip them out eventually. Yet to decide. This may be a study/home office type of spare bedroom with a sofabed for when we have a house full (if ever). We have painted this room white and done nothing else to it. However, in a few weeks we may start updating this and getting it into a study so I can move the desk from the lounge area before Sandy comes back in the Spring to do the major works. Watch this space!
Before clearance
Other people's clutter
Loads of wardrobes here
Our clutter, including the sofa bed ready for if ever we are full
This bedroom was one of the last to be tackled. It has been used as a storeroom since we moved in and indeed, to this day in Dec 2025, still has boxes remaining in it waiting to be emptied. We decided to combine this bedroom with Bedroom 5, a tiny room that we used as a utility room until we had the utility extension built. This has given us another really decent size bedroom downstairs that is now being used as a Study/Bedroom. As of Dec 2025 we haven't yet painted it and we are yet to add new sliding doors onto the wardrobe at the end. Looking forward to getting that completed over the next few months.
BEFORE and DURING
BEFORE: Some boxes cleared out but it still is a storeroom
DURING: Ray and Adrian, over from Australia for a couple of weeks, taking the moulding off the wardrobes so we can repair and paint them when we get time.
DURING: Sandy removed all the plasterboard and woodchip. He insulated the exterior walls and he replaced the windows.
DURING: The view from Bed 5 with Bed 4 on the right hand side through the partition wall which came down. The doorway for Bed 4 was blocked up and Bed 5 door now being used for the new combined room.
DURING - and still waiting to be finished (Dec 2025)
DURING: The heating going down in the new larger room.
DURING: New windows, and it really makes a difference to this room at the back of the house that it now has two windows and a vista of the garden.
DURING: Now being used as a study and the sofa bed was used for a grandson to stay a few weeks ago.
DURING: The window on the left was Bed 4 and the one on the right was Bed 5 / utility room. I can't believe how lovely and spacious this room now is and the light is so much better.
